About CanadianBanks.ca

The dated, sourced database of Canadian bank accounts and what they really cost — run independently by the MITEY Network, with no paid placement.

What this site does

CanadianBanks.ca prices every chequing and savings account that banks and credit unions list with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada — 330 accounts from 59 institutions, plus National Bank from its own fee guide — and ranks them by what they would cost you in a year. Around that database sit the tools people need when choosing or changing a bank: the true-cost finder, side-by-side comparison, rankings with published weights, the deposit safety tool and a switching planner, plus profiles of the institutions and the official lists behind them (OSFI, CDIC and the provincial deposit insurers).

Who runs it

The site is published by the MITEY Network (mitey.ca), a group of independent Canadian personal-finance reference sites. Pages are researched and written by the network’s editorial team from primary sources. We don’t list a credentialed financial reviewer, because we don’t have one — which is why every number links to the regulator, statute or institution page it comes from, so you can check it yourself.

How we make money — and how we don’t

  • No institution pays to be listed, ranked or reviewed. There are no affiliate links in any ranking or account page.
  • The order of every list comes only from published fees and your inputs, using the method on the methodology page.
  • The MITEY team answers questions sent through the site’s enquiry form; nothing is passed to a bank unless you ask.

What this site isn’t

  • Not a bank, credit union or broker. We take no deposits and open no accounts.
  • Not advice. We explain rules and show facts; the right account depends on your situation.

How we keep it current

Account fees were last captured from FCAC on November 1, 2026, and flagship accounts were checked against the banks’ own pages the same day. We re-run the capture at least quarterly and whenever a regulator announces a change, and every page shows the date its data was checked. Read the methodology and the full source list.

Contact

Email hello@mitey.ca, or use the question form on the account finder. If a fee or fact looks wrong, tell us the page and the official source that shows the change — corrections are the most useful message we get.

Mitey’s note

Mitey is the MITEY Network’s guide. On this site he’s the archivist: every fee filed on an index card, dated and sourced.
